THE SUMMIT AVENUE SWINGERS SOCIETY PRESENTS JEREMY MESSERSMITH LIVE AT THE BRYANT LAKE BOWL

I played 87 backyard shows during covid and it was a strange time. Sometimes it was hard to sing sad songs because everyone was so low and all folks wanted to do was have a laugh and drink a beer or two. So I started writing songs for them; songs that landed like a whoopee cushion in the 3rd grade, songs that worked on the first listen. Then I tried to record the songs but I couldn’t because they were missing something crucial- the audience. Without the call and response of laughter were they even really the same songs? Doubtful.

So I taped a show at a little theater/bowling alley so I could show y’all what I’ve been up to the last few summers- just me and CELLO WIZARD DAN LAWONN bopping around Minnesota in my 2006 Toyota Scion that has 240,000 miles on it and will surely never die.

Please forgive the ummmms and ahhhs and painfully local references- I didn’t travel much in those days. Enjoy the clinking glassware and savor the occasional misplaced note. We could’ve fixed them but we didn’t.
