i've been laughing for about an hour...

on a slightly related note, i just watched a 70's horror flick involving werewolves and newscasters. "the howling" was probably cutting edge for its time, but all the wolves ended up looking a lot like chewbacca to me. here's a quick synopsis-

"an anchorwoman and her attractive, mustached husband seek solace in an alternative living community known as "the colony" in order to repair her damaged psyche. unfortunately for them, the entire "colony" is made up of werewolves, who, in the end turn them both into werewolves. this movie ends with the anchorwoman getting shot with a silver bullet on the 5 o'clock news."

brilliant.

esteban is obese
well, my pets are on a diet. they are demonstratively fat. i did get them to eat out of my hand though.

exhilarating.

thanks to jen, josh, and vanessa for handing out cd's at the pedro/low show last night. that is one show i really didn't want to miss, but alas, i had to work at my important, world-changing job. i'm still waiting to hear some cool stories about the show guys....

bye for now. back to my cesspool of mediocrity and self loathing.

"any tips on making sushi?" aka "i can't form a single coherent thought"
i'm having some friends over tomorrow for dinner (direct quote from nearly 10,000 horror movies), and i'm scouring the web for some sushi recipes. i've got the whole sticky rice thing down, but my maki is just not that flavorful or interesting.

for those of you who don't know, i do tend to be a bit obsessive about asian food/culture. i just love the minimalism and simplicity of design that is common in asian art. if anyone out there ever has to buy me a gift, just make sure it's eastern in design. i'll love it.

so anyway, i might try some hand rolls instead of the plain maki that i always do. oh, maki is the rolled up sushi. hashi is the word for chopsticks. fuji ya is a cool place you can get sushi, but if you want a mom and pop feel, go over to midori's floating world cafe over on lake and 28th(?). their lunch specials are pretty affordable. i just found out that some restaurants in tokyo won't even give you chopsticks; sushi is meant to be fingerfood. hmmmm. so that's what those little hot towels are for.
