sleeping it off
so i slept for about 11 hours last night. absolutely wonderful.
aeroplanes, coffee beans, flying squirrels
i'm back in minneapolis now- just got back from sunny washington state. i had a total blast of a time. yes. a blast. anyway, now i'm wasting some time at the jolly ol' nine to five, which in this case happens to be three to eleven at night. i keep trying to get myself worked up enough to do some songwriting or something, but i mostly just sit here. i am getting better at my crossword puzzles though. and typer shark. still eagerly awaiting flying squirrels...
i'm finishing off my last day of work before flying out to washington state to spend christmas with the family. for some reason, it seems to be going waaaayyyyyyy too slow. i'm so looking forward to leaving this state for a slightly warmer state.
tripping the life fantastic
next on the agenda: the acadia. for those of you who missed out, it was probably the most fun i've had playing a show. justin law, myself, and jon reine (with a full band!) all performed for a totally crazy packed crowd. it was just incredibly fun and affirming. actually, it was just really nice to see some friends that i don't get to see very much anymore... also, the super-talented nick ciske took a bunch of photos of the show and posted them online here. they're really cool, so check them out. lastly, after many years of professing to hate animals, i have decided to get a pet. well, actually two pets. yes, that's right, you guessed it- i'm getting a pair of flying squirrels. i've always wanted to get flying rodents- ever since i saw some people on tv throwing a couple squirrels to each other. i just thought, "wow, i want a pet that can be thrown around a room." well, it seems that this secret desire of mine had been discovered, and my very significant other took it upon herself to find some for me. well, in a couple of weeks, if everything goes according to plan, i should be picking up a pair of them from a mysterious, white-bearded man named "smokey" who works as a nurse in a local hospital. please email me with suggestions for naming them at jeremymessersmith@hotmail.com. thanks and happy holidays! jeremy
just a quick post on how good life is right now- i have downloaded the ashlee simpson on snl video clip at work and have watched it at least 30 times. strangely, it gets funnier with every viewing. that dance... that sweet dance of naive youth in front of millions of people; it's so satisfying, like curling up the couch with a ton of blankets, sipping hot cocoa, and watching a blizzard outside your window. well, my window is the blinking glow of a cathode ray tube burning my retinas, but nevertheless, it's my window.
i drive a blueberry
secondly, the trailer for the new willy wonka movie. i have now (just 5 minutes ago) watched the trailer a total of 10 times. i'm not even sure if i like it. i mean, part of it really creeps me out. wonka is really really wierd. however, there is something about it that makes me feel all ancy. it's like when you are a kid and you know you are getting your allowance in two days. you know that as soon as you get the money, it will instantly be blown on anything from candy, baseball cards, bubble gum, fake dog poop, or that last volume of the encyclopedia. what you blow it on isn't important.... but the anticipation...the longing....the foresight... the planning... the sheer possibility of enjoyment that just makes your heart beat a little faster- well, usually it's better than the candy. anyway, i must see this movie before july 2005. oh, also the new war of the worlds trailer looks pretty sweet. it's cool that they quote from the book "and they looked upon our planet with envious eyes." Haha! thirdly, i got an early christmas present yesterday that just about brought tears to eyes because it was so thoughtful. thanks.
youch. still recovering from a late night at the 400 bar last night. urgghhh. it's now almost one o'clock in the afternoon, but my brain is still not functioning properly (well, not like it probably ever does anyway). thankfully, my job doesn't require strenuous mental conditioning.
man, that was a good cheesburger
just a quick round of thank you's: amaryah (for putting it all together and playing the best set i've ever heard you do), all the other musicians who played (harmony, thanks for the bgv's, concentual, very tight), all the 400 bar employees who worked(the corona) and of course the three people who came out to see me play. :) let it be known - butter pecan is undeniably the best syrup to be found at ihop
i just wanted to say thanks to everyone who came out to the dinkytowner last night. once again, i came home stinking of alcohol and cigarettes. yum. oh, special thanks to alex for setting it up. and to everyone else that played - you all rocked. now i must return to cnn.com for more news on the ukrainian crisis. later everyone.
