these are really hard questions. can a person like Sergey brin (help start google) inflict his own beliefs onto another country? Is it wrong for yahoo to censor their search results to abide chinese laws? Was it wrong for microsoft to sell their products to nazi germany, which enabled the functioning of concentration camps?

The last question seems easy to answer because of hindsight. It seems to me that cisco Systems (the company china uses as the "great firewall") is not encouraging information in china but supporting ignorance. their claim is the same that microsoft used. "we can't control how our customers use our products" while i'm writing this, i wonder why companies can't just be ethical.

and as i sit here at 11:23 at night, i have decided that company's should be held to standards. Factory farming should not exist, large corporations should have greater consequences for law breaking, carpet making companies should not distroy natural resorces, and technology sites should uphold freedom of information for human beings.

i'm sure i'll change my mind in the morning.
