that thing you do
so i was driving yesterday during that fantastic thunderstorm and i swear i almost got hit by lightning. the flash was so close it hurt my ears. wait a second, i don't think lightning actually produces sound, so it must have been the boom of thunder. can any meteorologists clear this up for me?

novocain got played on the radio yesterday.

it was completely stunning and somewhat surreal. the whole time it was playing i was listening nervously to the song while various people (ahem) were dancing around the house and calling everyone i know. i mean, not only was it played on my favorite radio station (89.3), but it was also beautifully introduced by my favorite dj- radio goddess mary lucia.

i immediately called my parents to let them know that for the first time (and quite possibly the last) their son had risen above the sum of all his failures and that he hadn't completely wasted his life by pursuing music and that he had now joined the ranks of the product producing american workforce. i had a song that got played on the actual radio.

in a complete anti-climax, all i got was the answering machine. maybe they were working in the yard or something.

ryan, if you ever read this, i owe you big time.

Here I was, driving home from the same cube-farm that you used to populate, and I hear "Radio Goddess, Marie Lucia" announce some local music by Jeremy Messersmith. Rock! Or "RRRAAAWWWKKK" as I would say. I'm so happy (o.k... a little jealous) and amazed for you.

Please let me know when you are playing again, or EVER want to play with the loud, proud, '92 sound of Atomic Machine.
